Senior Devices and Accounts

Dear Graduating Senior,

As the school year draws to a close, we want to thank you for your support of the 1:1 Chromebook initiative and to inform you about Chromebook collection procedures and a buy-out/purchase option for the Class of 2024.

Chromebook Collection: All seniors were issued a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year. Chromebooks must be returned on the senior turn-in day or at a later time discussed with your School Library Media Specialist. If not purchased (see details below), failure to return the Chromebook and will result in a charge for the full replacement cost and will delay the issuing of the transcript and diploma. Any Chromebook not returned will be considered stolen property and law enforcement agencies will be notified.

Buy-out/Purchase Option: Class of 2024 graduating seniors will have the option to buy out their district-issued Chromebook at the cost of $25. If a graduating senior bought Chromebook Insurance for the current school year 23-24, then they will be able to purchase their Chromebook for free.

If purchased, the Chromebook will be disenrolled from Murray County Schools, and the device will be reset to its original factory settings; click HERE to learn more. The student will have complete ownership of the device; the District will no longer be responsible for the device, including its care and repair services.

The $25 payment for the Chromebook buy-out can be made online via the Infinite Campus Parent/Student portal, (directions found HERE) or cash/check paid at their school location. This purchase is non-refundable.

Google Account Data: In addition to the Chromebook, you have been utilizing a district-provided Google account during your studies. We understand the importance of your academic work and personal data stored within this account. To facilitate a seamless transition, we encourage you to download and/or transfer any necessary files, emails, and other data before July 1. After this date, your Google account will be deactivated, and you will no longer have access to its contents. For detailed instructions on how to download/transfer your Google account data, please click HERE.

We appreciate your cooperation and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the district technology offices.

Sincerely,

Murray County Schools Technology Department

Senior Chromebook Buy Option 2023-2024 School Year

As part of our 1:1 Chromebook take-home program, Murray County School District will offer graduating seniors the option to purchase their Chromebooks to keep after graduation.

How it Works:

  • If a senior purchased Chromebook insurance for the 2023-2024 school year, they can receive their Chromebook at no extra cost to the student.

  • If a senior did not purchase Chromebook insurance for the 2023-2024 year, they can purchase the device they have been using for $25.

  • Outstanding Fines/Loaner Devices: All fines and fees associated with the student’s Chromebook must be paid in full before purchasing the device.

To purchase the Chromebook, students/parents/guardians can go to the Infinite Campus parent/student portal. Click HERE to access directions for online pay. If you would like to pay in cash, please see the school’s library media specialist.

The school's Library Media Specialist will verify the purchase and mark the device as "Senior Buy" in the district's inventory system.

The student will then be able to take the Chromebook with them at the end of the school year.

Students who decline the purchase option must return the Chromebook on the last day for seniors.

Chromebooks purchased by students will be removed from the district network and security protocols following graduation. A district login will no longer be required to use the device.

After graduation, students will have until July 1 to transfer files from their school Google account to a personal account. Instructions for using Google Takeout are available HERE.

Additionally, the district has provided instructions for students on how to un-enroll their Chromebook from the district's management after graduation. These instructions can be found HERE.

Students with any questions should contact their school's Library Media Specialist.
