Murray County Schools is excited to share some updates with our district administration team and introduce several new members who are joining us.
We would like to congratulate our internal hires:
Dr. Daphne Winkler – Principal – North Murray High School
Dr. Winkler began her career at Bagley Middle School as a teacher and worked there for 12 years as a special education and math teacher before continuing at Bagley as an assistant principal for five more years. She has been a principal in Murray County Schools for the last eight years, and she is excited to take that experience to North Murray.
Mrs. Kristy Campbell – Principal – Coker Elementary
Mrs. Campbell began her career at Coker Elementary, and after many years as an excellent teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal in Murray County Schools, she will be returning to lead the good work happening with our Coker Cubs. We're very excited about what Mrs. Campbell will bring to her new role.
Mrs. Jennifer Jones – Principal – Gladden Middle School
Mrs. Jones has worked in Murray County Schools since 2000, with the last 12 years spent working as an assistant principal at multiple locations, most recently for seven years at Eton Elementary. She began her career in Murray County as a middle school teacher and spent some time as an assistant principal at Gladden. She is excited to return and continue the good work happening at GMS!
Mrs. Shelley Sane – Assistant Principal – Woodlawn Elementary
Mrs. Sane has been at WES since it opened 18 years ago. She has served as a 4th and 5th-grade teacher and the Instructional Coach for the past 6 years. Congratulations Mrs. Sane!
Mrs. Amanda Summey – Assistant Principal – Pleasant Valley
Mrs. Summey has been at PVIS for 3 years the last 2 as the Counselor. Her background is in social work, as well as education.
We are excited to welcome our new team members:
Dr. Lynnda Higgins – Assistant Principal – Eton Elementary
Dr. Higgins joins us via Dalton Public Schools, where she spent 28 years working in various roles at Roan School. She has served in many capacities and has experience working with students across all grade levels.
Dr. Brandi High – Assistant Principal – Coker Elementary
Dr. High joins us from Dalton Public Schools. She has served in education for 18 years working with students in grades K-5. She has served in many capacities both at the school and district levels.
Mr. Michael Carter – Assistant Principal – Murray County High School
Mr. Carter brings 16 years of educational experience to Murray County High School. He spent the first five years of his career teaching elementary, middle, and high school levels in the Polk County School System, where he also coached baseball. He then served as the head baseball coach at Franklin County High School in Winchester, TN, for six years. Most recently, he spent five years at Cohulla Creek High School in Whitfield County. Throughout his career, Mr. Carter has served in many capacities and is very much looking forward to joining the Tribe at MCHS!
