Shelby Lynn and Dr. Johnson

Shelby Lynn Pellom, a dedicated student in the Murray County School District, recently shared an inspiring story of her journey toward graduation, highlighting the incredible support she received from Pleasant Valley Innovative School (PVIS). Shelby’s path was challenging—two years ago, she was told she was significantly behind in credits, with 20 classes left to complete and little hope of graduating on time.

However, everything changed when she enrolled at PVIS. The school's welcoming environment and supportive staff made a tremendous difference in Shelby's motivation and success. Over the past year, Shelby completed an impressive 18 classes, accomplishing what would normally take three years in just one. This school year, she completed her final two classes in record time and is now preparing to begin dual enrollment on October 14th.

Reflecting on her experience, Shelby expressed deep gratitude for the guidance and care she received at PVIS. “I would not have made it if it wasn’t for Pleasant Valley Innovative School,” she shared, thanking the staff for their unwavering support.

Shelby’s story is a testament to the life-changing impact teachers and administration can have on students, offering a second chance and helping students achieve their goals despite the odds.  The Murray County School district is proud of Shelby’s hard work and success and looks forward to seeing what she will accomplish next. Way to go, Shelby, YOU are Murray!
