Due to the extremely low temperatures and the potential for power outages across the district, Murray County Schools will be closed for in-person instruction tomorrow, January 17th.
However, in order to engage our students while we are out of school, Wednesday will be considered a Distance Learning Day. Students with Chromebook access may have assignments shared through their Google Classrooms. Students without Chromebook access will be given non-digital assignments by their teachers. Schools/Teachers will communicate their expectations for the day directly with our parents and students. Student expectations will not be overwhelming, but we do want the students to engage in some learning activities since we are not in school. Again, expectations and assignments for the day will be directly communicated from your teacher. Stay warm and safe!

Construction Update: MCHS Concession Stand, Gym, and Band Room
The new concession stand is coming along nicely at the MCHS football field. The concession stand has three bays dedicated to concessions and a fourth for the Indian gear trading post. There are restrooms on each side, a men's and women's dedicated to the home side and a men's and women's for visitors—a brand new ticket booth at the entrance and covered areas for grilling and waiting lines. We will post more updates and photos as the project continues. We hope to see this project wrap up in approximately the next 60 days, weather permitting.
Construction on the new gym and band room has officially begun! In the next month, things will ramp up on-site. Crews are working now to shore up the foundation of the old gym before starting on the new. Work has been taking place over the last year as utilities and sewage were re-routed to fix past issues with back-ups and flooding, ensuring that the current gym and the new one are adequately supported. We will continue to give updates as these projects continue. This is E-SPLOST dollars at work!
The Chattanooga Food Bank Mobile Pantry will postpone the food drop this Saturday at North Murray. They will pick back up in February. Please share, again there will not be a food drop this Saturday at North Murray High School. We will share an update if they reschedule before February. Thank you!

The safety of our students is our utmost priority. The delayed start will allow our bus drivers to conduct pickups during daylight hours, ensuring a safer journey to school by navigating any potential debris or challenges caused by the weather.

Early Dismissal Tomorrow to begin Christmas Break!
The Murray Madrigals, a combination of the student chorus groups from Woodlawn, Northwest, Eton, and Chatsworth Elementary, spent the day Monday spreading Christmas cheer loud for all to hear! We love this tradition and look forward to seeing them each year. Great job, Murray Madrigals! And thank you to the excellent music teachers who organized the day!
MCS Families - We would like to let you know about an upcoming distance learning day designed to ensure the efficiency and reliability of our distance learning systems. On Friday, March 15, 2024, Murray County Schools will observe a district-wide Distance Learning Day. This means students will not be at school but attend through distance learning at home.
This day serves as an opportunity for us to refine our online learning platforms and ensure, if needed, that we are prepared to deliver exceptional education by distance learning.
