student council slide

The 6th-grade students on Spring Place Elementary's student council work hard to care for their classmates.

They work every morning from 7:30 to 8:15, prepping all week to organize, stock,  and count items that would have been thrown away.

They then prep meal bags and load these bags onto buses every Friday. They feed 30 of our families.

The current district Teacher of the Year, Rachel Brindle, shared, "These students are amazing. It is hard work, and they come to school every day and work hard to help out other students."

Murray County Schools has four elementary schools partnered with Helping Hands Ends Hunger Inc., and Spring Place alone has saved over 2,000 pounds of food from the trash.

We are so proud of these 6th-grade students and all of the student councils at each school who are the hands and feet behind this food pantry partnership. They are making a difference for their classmates and the community.
